Abstract

The Indonesian tax administration requires data analytics for the purpose of monitoring taxpayer compliance. Data wrangling is one of the stages in data analytics as a combination of various techniques and computing tools in such a way as to prepare data from various sources and formats to prepare data sets that can be analyzed to support organizational decision-making and actions. Using a digital ethnographic research strategy, this study found that data wrangling is part of the “digital-self†in the everyday life of the organizations-actors in the implementation of data analytics as part of the tax administration function. This paper provides a framework to understand how digital-self becomes part of the technological aspects of data wrangling at various levels of tax administration functions. The framework is expected to become a reference in formulating the provisions on data wrangling procedures for various levels, functions, and purposes of tax administration, or it could be applied to a broader scope of public finance management.
