NDA GCF Held the 2nd Annual Participatory Review

On March 10, 2020, for the second time, the Fiscal Policy Agency (FPA) as the National Designated Authority (NDA) for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) held the Annual Participatory Review (APR) Forum. As GCF’s representative in Indonesia, FPA is working to improve the GCF funding process, in accordance to the achievements and input from the first APR carried out last year in January 2019.

Attended by stakeholders from various ministries and institutions, including women’s organizations, people with disabilities organizations, and indigenous peoples organizations, the forum aims to socialize Indonesia’s progress in accessing GCF funds, and to spark dialogue, gather input, learn from the Call for Project Concept Note (PCN) activities, as well as to build formal consultation process between stakeholders and the GCF NDA to ensure a smoother process of mobilizing GCF funds in Indonesia for inclusive climate change projects.

Departing from the input received at APR 2019, BKF has succeeded in carrying out various improvements to the GCF funding process in Indonesia, including the acceleration and simplification of the accreditation process and proposal collection, the development of project list from various national and regional institutions, as well as technical assistance and capacity building for local governments to access GCF funds.

Continuing the success of the first APR, the participatory forum reaped valuable input, including the need to increase information about the GCF that could reach all parties, capabilities improvement through involving vulnerable groups such as women and children, people with disabilities, and indigenous peoples, and aligning the GCF projects with the national strategy for climate change that involves local governments to ensure its sustainability.

Moving forward, the GCF NDA is committed to continuously improve the process of accessing GCF funds. In addition, the GCF NDA will strive for this annual forum to be a platform to respond to climate change in Indonesia through various development projects that are low in emissions and resilient to climate change.
