Refocusing Indonesia’s Strategic Sectors in the GCF Accredited Entities Coordination Meeting

As the focal point of Indonesia to the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the National Designated Authority (NDA) constantly strives to increase collaboration and coordination between Accredited Entities (AE). On 20 February 2023, the Indonesia's NDA to the GCF, supported by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), held a coordination meeting inviting GCF AEs, Direct Access Entities (DAE), and potential DAEs. The coordination meeting was conducted to monitor the progress of Indonesia’s project pipeline and implementation status for projects/programmes already approved by the GCF, as well as increasing coordination among AEs. By providing a platform for AEs to share the latest status of project pipelines, the NDA and all stakeholders are up to speed on Indonesia’s growing pipeline and are able to learn best practices from other projects.

To kick off the meeting, the NDA presented information surrounding GCF-related activities, namely updates on current GCF’s funding allocation for Indonesia, the current trend of proposed GCF projects from Indonesia, and a brief information on the Readiness program support for Indonesia, which was just started in end of 2022. In this occasion, AEs presented their project pipeline updates, submission plan, and recommendation on ways the NDA could assist. Multiple AEs shared their respective process in GCF-related activities and clarify challenges they have identified. Furthermore, the NDA will keep track on the pipeline and accreditation progress, and provide recommendations where needed.

The main takeaway from the meeting is the fact that GCF project pipeline in Indonesia, both approved and projects under development, are still leaning towards the mitigation sector. A balance of funding between mitigation and adaptation is crucial and need to be urged. Moving forward, the NDA will shift its strategy to balance the funding allocation, encourage higher involvement from national DAEs. The updated list of pipelines will be reflected in the Annex of Indonesia’s Country Programme Document (CPD), available publicly on the NDA’s website. cross-cutting, dengan keterlibatan yang lebih tinggi dari DAE nasional dan sektor swasta kedepannya.
