In implementing the fund mechanism, the GCF works therough Accredited Entities, whether it is International Access Entities (IAE), or Direct Access Entities (DAE) in national and regional. National DAE is one of the important actors in the GCF mechanism, especially in country-level. This is because the DAE’s position in a country can provide full understanding of the project’s context, the people’s needs, and supporting intense coordination with the National Designated Authority (NDA) and the country’s stakeholder.

A one of the requirements of accreditation, the proponent needs to obtain a nomination letter from the NDA where it is operating. The Fiscal Policy Agency, Ministry of Finance as the GCF NDA in Indonesia established a nomination mechanism with a public consultation soliciting input and feedback from related stakeholders, including the ministries, national institutions, and non-party stakeholders.

Currently, Indonesia has a priority DAE candidate from the financial institution or banking. This is based on the need of bigger climate projects with various financial instruments. This need has not been able to be accommodated with the current DAEs and the candidate. CIMB Niaga is one of the candidates fit for the requirements and needs.
